Home Inspection

 Unsafe wiring can be deadly!. It can cause shocks, fires, and other electrical hazards. We all need to know how to keep our family and home safe from danger.

There are two steps to safety, awareness and action. But, first, let's look at why you need an electrical inspection.

WHY?
Electrical defects are often hidden from view in attics and crawl spaces, making them especially hard to detect. Sometimes electrical equipment is added by untrained homeowners. This can complicate the inspection. You would be surprised by how often we find violations in grounding, knob-and-tube wiring, aluminum wiring, service entrances, and fuses panels. We'll find where to look for practically every potential electrical mishap is waiting to happen.

WHAT?
What is an electrical inspection? An electrical inspection is a thorough examination of your home's wiring by the highly qualified and experienced staff at Mister Electric. Basically, we want to ensure your home or work place complies with the requirements of minimum standard as set fourth by the Canadian Electrical Code.

HOW?
First we do the inspection. Then following the assessment, a report will be issued which will give you confirmation that your home has been inspected for minimum electrical code standards. The report can be used to answer inquiries by potential purchasers, real estate agents, and insurance companies. It can help you with the resale value of your home and may even help you reduce insurance costs.

AWARENESS
Here are some signs that you may require our services:

  • loose or damaged plugs
  • damaged and/or frayed electrical cords
  • fuses that blow or circuit breakers that trip frequently, or circuits that won't work when fuses are replaced or breakers reset
  • dim or flickering lights

Recognize that extension cords are handy for temporary use but:

  • never remove the 3rd prong - this prong exists to prevent shocks!
  • do not use in place of permanent wiring
  • do not use if cords show signs of damage such as loose prongs, splits in the plastic casing (cord jacket), or heat excessively when in use
  • keep away from heat and water
  • do not place under carpets or heavy furniture
